Sugar-free and sugar-reduced chocolate with your logo

Chocolate without sugar, with your logo – is that possible?

Yes. On request, Schokologo embosses every logo product in two recipes without conventional sugar: dark chocolate 54 % with no added sugar, sweetened with maltitol, or milk chocolate with just 1 % sugar. Both are cast in Düsseldorf in the same moulds as our standard varieties – rounds, bars, hearts, custom shapes – with the same embossed logo and the same packaging.

They are asked for wherever sugar is part of the conversation: in pharmacies and medical practices, at health insurers, in the dental and fitness sectors, and in companies that want to give their staff something deliberately lower in sugar. On this page you will find the two recipes compared, the products available with them, the labelling rules and the process up to delivery.

Sugar-free chocolate

Sugar-free chocolate

Two recipes: no added sugar, or 1 % sugar

Belgian couverture, processed like our standard chocolate

Two recipes cover most requests; both are Belgian couverture and are processed exactly like our standard chocolate.

Dark chocolate 54 % with no added sugar

Dark chocolate with 54 % cocoa and no added sugar. The sweetness comes from the sugar substitute maltitol, rounded off with natural Bourbon vanilla. It snaps, tastes comparable and has the same colour and gloss as our dark chocolate – in the embossed relief the difference is invisible. This is the recipe behind “sugar-free” as customers ask for it: no sugar in the ingredients list.

Milk chocolate with 1 % sugar

If you prefer milk chocolate, you get a sugar-reduced milk chocolate with 51.4 % cocoa and 42.5 % milk – about twice the milk content of an ordinary milk chocolate – and only 1 % added sugar. That makes it darker, creamier and more intense than the usual milk chocolate. The recipe uses sunflower instead of soy lecithin; the cocoa comes from sustainable sources.

Both are special recipes: we produce them from about 20 kg of chocolate per order, in every shape and packaging from our range. A standard order with less chocolate runs in milk, dark 60 % or white – and dark 60 %, the variety with the most cocoa, is in any case the one with the least sugar.

Varieties compared: standard, no added sugar, 1 % sugar

The table shows what actually changes between the varieties – and what does not: shape, embossing, packaging and process are identical.

Who sugar-free logo chocolate is made for

A promotional gift with a message

Sugar-free logo chocolate says “we thought of you” – of the client with diabetes, the patient after a dental cleaning, the team at the nutrition clinic.

  • Pharmacies – low-value promotional gifts are permitted for pharmacies; a chocolate round with no added sugar and the pharmacy logo fits into every bag.
  • Dental and orthodontic practices, dental labs – the “Smile” chocolate teeth and the chocolate round are available without sugar, which takes the contradiction out of a gift from the practice.
  • Health insurers, public health offices, prevention programmes – giveaways for action days, screening campaigns and diabetes education.
  • Pharmaceutical and medical-technology sales – practice visits, congresses, trade fairs: trade-fair giveaways made of chocolate in the sugar-free recipe.
  • Gyms, nutrition counselling, sports retail – milk chocolate with 1 % sugar as a reward that fits the concept.
  • Companies with a health programmeemployee gifts for Christmas or an anniversary, without leaving anyone with diabetes empty-handed.

Labelling and claims

What may be printed on the packaging is regulated in the EU – and we stick to the rules even when your campaign uses the word “sugar-free”.

  • “No added sugar” means: no sugar in the ingredients list. That is how the dark recipe is declared. Maltitol is a sugar substitute, not a sugar.
  • Mandatory notice for maltitol: foods with more than 10 % added polyols carry the statement “excessive consumption may produce laxative effects” – required by the EU Food Information Regulation 1169/2011, Annex III. It appears on every pack, on request also on the printed box.
  • “Reduced sugar” is a nutrition claim under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006 and requires at least 30 % less sugar than a comparable chocolate – the milk chocolate with 1 % sugar meets that by a wide margin.
  • No “suitable for diabetics” claim: this declaration has not been permitted since 2012. We state what is inside – the recipient decides with the ingredients list.
  • Allergens: the 1 % recipe contains milk; the dark recipe may contain traces of milk; lecithin from soy or sunflower depending on the recipe. The ingredients list comes with every quotation.

Vegan, organic, Fairtrade: further recipes

Besides the two low-sugar recipes we also produce, from about 20 kg, vegan chocolate (dark, without milk components), organic chocolate, Fairtrade-certified chocolate, Swiss chocolate as well as Ruby and Gold caramel. Our standard couverture comes from Callebaut, whose cocoa is sourced sustainably through the Cocoa Horizons programme – more under sustainability on the logo chocolate page.

Which variety suits which occasion is settled in the quotation; the embossing of your logo is the same for all of them. For multicolour designs there is printing on white chocolate: printing or embossing?

Frequently asked questions about chocolate without sugar

The dark recipe contains no added sugar; it is sweetened with the sugar substitute maltitol. The packaging therefore says “no added sugar” – you receive the ingredients list with the quotation.

Hardly. The maltitol recipe snaps, has the same colour and gloss as our dark 60 % and tastes comparable. The milk chocolate with 1 % sugar is darker and creamier than ordinary milk chocolate.

A “suitable for diabetics” claim has not been permitted since 2012, so we do not make it. We state the ingredients and nutrition values; whether the chocolate fits a diet is for the recipients to decide, alone or with their doctor.

From about 20 kg of chocolate per order, because the couverture is processed separately. For smaller runs we recommend dark 60 % – the standard variety with the least sugar.

All embossed logo chocolates: rounds, bars, squares, hearts, napolitains and custom shapes from your own mould. Printed products (chocolate decor, printed bars) are made on white chocolate and are excluded.

Yes – for instance milk chocolate for the workforce and the maltitol recipe for part of the recipients. Both recipes get the same embossing; the packaging identifies the variety.

Ingredients list, nutrition values, allergens and, for the maltitol recipe, the mandatory statement “excessive consumption may produce laxative effects”. On the four-colour printed box you design the front; the back carries the mandatory information.
